Imagine being lost in the labyrinth of exotic flora and fauna as you venture into the mysterious world of lush greens and fresh blooms! If Gardens by the Bay is the place you are thinking of, you are absolutely right! The learning journey to Gardens by the Bay, a world-renowned tourist attraction in Singapore, was one eagerly anticipated by my class as we chose this place to understand more about out environment and visit the key attraction on display, the Tulipmania Floral Display!
To spice things up and enhance our learning experience there, my class decided to include an Amazing Race of fact-finding and picture-taking. Thus, before going to the Gardens by the Bay my class had split up into three expert groups, each specialized in one of the flowers to look out for - the Tulipa cv. 'Red riding Hood', the Tulipa cv. 'Grand Perfection' or the Tulipa cv. 'Purple Prince'. We were all tasked to come up with a short write-up as to why the flower assigned to our group was the most unique one among the three! Being zealous competitive students, we did our research before hand and took notes applicable to our group's flower to know just what to expect. However, no amounts of preparation could ever prepare us for what was installed for us there!
The moment we set foot in Gardens by the Bay, we were greeted with a colour setting of magical fairy tales and over 40 varieties of tulips in a myriad of hues and forms! It was an absolutely captivating sight! Nevertheless, we hopped into action and journeyed into the depts of the garden in search of out flower. We had a limit of one hour to find the flower, which added to the element of thrill, and write out our short write-up on the spot. Later on, there would be a short presentation about the group's flower where the best presentation would win! After the Amazing Race had ended, our form teacher allowed us to roam about the garden to explore on our own.
One common feeling we all had for sure was the feeling of being dumbstruck by the beauty of nature itself! The comforting aura the place has allowed us to find solace within the garden. We were in awe by the various species of flowers blooming under a single roof. This learning journey really was not just a walk in the park!
Going to the Gardens by the Bay really allowed my class to appreciate nature and places of interest in Singapore even more. The experiences that these places have to offer to the general public is simply one that is irreplaceable, unforgettable and extraordinary. From being exposed to enchanting stories behind origins of certain flowers to learning their significance in the world today, I feel that places of interest in Singapore are so much more than just tourist attractions!
